Enorth.com.cn:Before the opening ceremony of the 14th FINA Women's Water Polo World Cup in the evening of 8th Aug,Sun Hailin, Vice Mayor of Tianjin, met with Guillermo Martinez, Bureau Liaison of FINA; Cornel Marculescu, Executive Director of FINA and many FINA Officials of Technical Water Polo Committee, Fina Press Delegate, FINA Doping Control Delegate and FINA Observers.
On behalf of Tianjin government, Sun Hailin welcomed FINA Officials. He said that Women's Water Polo World Cup is one of the most important sports event of FINA. The 14th Women's Water Polo World Cup have great significance because the eight teams wanted to make good preparation for Beijin 2008 Olmpic Games by participating in this sports event.Sun Hailin expressed his hope for the successful holding of this water polo world cup and he also wished that FINA Officials could have a pleasant period in Tianjin.
Guillermo Martinez said that tianjin made a deep impression to them though they just stayed in tianjin several days till now.He also said that nowadays FINA are trying their best to popularize the water polo in the whole world. In the following week,spectators can appreciate a fantastic world-class water polo event. We can got the feeling about the fast development of water polo by appciating the 14th FINA Women's Water Polo World Cup. Martinez also thanked for the good preparation and the support of Tianjin. He believed that in China such an international sports event can be held successfully.
