On the evening of Aug 15th, the opening ceremony of 2005 Vanke World Water Ski Championships was held in Tianjin, Dongli Lake. After holding the 43rd World Table Tennis Championship in 1995, the 34th Artistic Gymnastics Championships in 1999 and the 2002 IWSF University World Championships successfully, the 2005 WWSC which is an international championship is also held in Tianjin.

The 2005 WWSC is held in the International Aquatic Center of Dongli Lake from Aug 16th to Aug 21st. There are 8 collections for this water ski championship, including women slalom, men slalom, women jump, men jump, women tricks, men tricks, women overall and men overall. The Chinese Team has totally six athletes to participate in this championship.

On the opening ceremony, a wonderful performance which can show the traditional culture of China and features of Tianjin was presented to the audiences.

The whole performance of opening ceremony was divided into six parts that are “Prelude”, “Dragons Flying, Lions Mounting”, “Water Skiing Performances”, “Chinese Traditional Music and Dance”, “Water Ballet”, “Beijing Opera”, and “Mounting Flood-dragon, Soaring Tiger”. Not only can we see the excited water skiing, but also audiences can appreciate the Chinese traditional culture. The wonderful ceremony was ended in a loud applause.
